About the Challenge

The Centennial Challenge to Young Alumni is a special opportunity for young alumni to give back to Rice and intensify the impact of their support during the Centennial Campaign.

If you graduated from Rice between 1999 and 2009, Karen’79 and Rich ’80 Whitney will generously match your gift to the Rice Annual Fund with an equal or greater gift through June 30, 2010.

  • Gifts received Sept. 1, 2009–Dec. 31, 2009 are matched 3-to-1.
  • Gifts received Jan. 1, 2010­­–Beer Bike are matched 2-to-1.
  • Gifts received the day after Beer Bike through June 30, 2010 are matched 1-to-1.

Be a young alumni leader
The Young Alumni Charter Society recognizes the leading support of alumni who graduated between 1999 and 2009. To be recognized as a Charter Society member, total gifts to the Annual Fund must meet the following criteria within one fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

Class   Yearly Gifts
1999-2000   $1,000 or more
2001-2005   $500-$999
2006-2009   $250-$499

Members receive a Fondren Library card, invitations to special Rice events (including reserved seating at the Presidential Lecture Series) and a Donor Honor Roll listing. Members who make a gift of $2,500 or more are invited to events reserved for Edgar Odell Lovett Society members.
